Audio production is the art and science of shaping sound to tell a story, create emotion, and elevate experiences. The Bachelor of Science in Music with a concentration in Audio Production at ³Ô¹Ïtv is designed to prepare you for work in the sound recording and production industry.
As a Music major in this program, you’ll learn how to:
- Record, mix, and master audio in professional studio environments.
- Use industry-standard software such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro, and Ableton Live.
- Design and manipulate sound for music, film, video games, and live performance.
- Operate live sound systems for concerts, theater, and events.
- Combine technical precision with musical creativity to produce polished, professional-quality work.
Build a professional portfolio
At ³Ô¹Ïtv, every assignment is a step toward building your professional portfolio. From your first semester, you'll work hands-on in state-of-the-art recording studios, digital audio labs, and performance venues on campus.
You’ll gain experience by:
- Producing and editing multitrack recordings.
- Recording live concerts and performances.
- Syncing sound to video and editing audio for film or games.
- Designing original soundscapes and studio-based compositions.
- Managing full production workflows from pre-production to mastering.
These practical projects ensure you graduate not only with a deep understanding of audio production, but also with a robust portfolio that showcases your creativity, versatility, and technical expertise.
Collaborate in a professional environment
As part of the Audio Production program at IUS, you’ll collaborate closely with fellow students in music, digital media, and performing arts. You'll take on real-world production roles in team-based studio settings and live event environments, mimicking the collaborative nature of the audio industry.
Faculty members bring years of professional experience in sound engineering, music production, and post-production, and will guide you through hands-on assignments, give expert feedback, and help you refine your technical and creative abilities.
Admission to the Music Program
In addition to submitting an application to the university, students wishing to be admitted to the Music program must complete a separate Music application, complete a Music Theory Placement Exam, and perform an audition.
